The purpose of the Cranbrook Kimberley Hospice Society is to assist clients with terminal and serious illnesses. We give emotional support to individuals and families during the dying and grieving process. We also assist families and friends of clients during the process of providing palliative care and through the bereavement process.
We have several programs that are run by volunteers. All of our volunteers go through an extensive training program and all of our programs are offered free of charge. Trained Hospice volunteers spend time with clients and their families wherever they are, at home, hospital, or care homes. Our volunteers are there to support and listen to concerns with a non-judgmental attitude.
A Hospice volunteer will companion palliative clients and their families during the end of the life journey. They are available from the time of diagnosis until the end. They can help navigate the system and share resource material. Their compassionate listening skills are a calming gift during what is often a very stressful time. After the death, we offer bereavement services with various programs such as: Walk & Talk Program, Infant Loss Program, and Live and Learn Day Program. We always welcome new volunteers to assist with end of life and/or to assist with fundraising and other activities
As with other non-profits and businesses, the need for our services grows every day due to COVID-19. We must find new ways to deliver training and programs as well as meet our fundraising needs. We have turned to an online 50/50 draw.
With the expert help of Raffle Nexus and the continued support of the community, we hope to maintain all programs even expanding to meet the needs of the communities we serve.
